Feeling a little blue?

Hi everyone!

The other day I was off into uni, and I didn't want to slap on too much make up. I decided on this really simply look, I hope you like.

(I used no primer - shock horror!)
I used the BeautyUK eyeshadow palette (1)

Using the blue, apply this all over the lids taking it just a little over the crease and blend.

Apply some eyeliner thinly on the top lid.

Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes, and then some fake lashes.

I really hope you liked this simple every day look! I also think this would look great with other colours.

GlossyBox Review - Valentine's!

Hi everyone,

This morning, my GlossyBox came through the door - YAY! This is my second one, and I couldn't wait to open it up. I had no idea what to expect as I made a point to avoid reviews on it.

Turns out I received the Limited Edition Valentines box, it's a bright pink matte box - so pretty!

Here are the products:
  • Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in Plum
  • ORELY Nail Lacquer in Ruby
  • Weleda One Step Cleanser & Toner
  • FAB Body Wash
  • Murad Hybrids Skin Perfecting primer in Dewy finish
I found the box a bit of an anti-climax to be quite honest, yet another nail varnish?! Last months was a glitter pink and this month a red? Not so bad if you actually use varnish.
I was also a little annoyed that I got another body wash too - Do I smell? haha.
I'm a little wary about using the cleanser and toner as I'm not sure if it will bring me out or cause a rash (I have dry sensitive skin)
Although I am looking forward to testing out the Eyeko Pencil and also the primer. I don't tend to use primer for my face, so I'd like to see what it's like with my foundation.

What did you get in your Beauty Box this month? (Whether it's GlossyBox or another)

Illamasqua Pure Pigment

Hi everyone,

On Saturday just gone, my parents came up to see me at my uni house! It was so lovely to see them and we went on a day out to the Trafford Centre, stopping at Costco inbetween for a little shop and a slice of pizza, yum!

Walking around the trafford, me and my mum had a nose in all the shops, I didn't really see anything exciting for myself but I made sure we stopped in Selfridges for a look around the beauty counters. I went into MAC to have a look at the Daphne Guinness collection, and then as always, Illamasqua caught my eye.
I love the stand, and I always get excited when I see the smashed mirrors and the uniqueness of the products. The lady on the counter started talking to me about how she loved my hair (red with a slice of orange) and how I'd really suit their products. She wanted to give me a bright red lip but I had to go for tea, and daddy was waiting. I tried a few swatches and off we went.

After we'd finished shopping (they were buying Sophie's 21st birthday present (she got herself 2 Pandora charms 1 from my mum&dad, 1 from my brother)) I mentioned to my mum that I wanted to go back to Illamasqua as I was thinking of treating myself to something.
I had another swatch of the Berber Pure Pigment and I knew it had to be! My mum then said she'd buy it for me and I was so excited - my first Illamasqua product, yay!

And here it is:

My swatch does this colour no justice at all!
I am in LOVE with this colour, and I cannot wait to try it out on a few make up looks!

I hope you like too! Let me know in the comments if you've ever tried Illamasqua or any dupes?

Panda Lips

Hi everyone.

I love playing around with make up, making gorgeous wearable looks. But sometimes you need to create some crazy that you wouldn't be seen dead out of the house with.

So while flicking through the recent Company magazine, I saw this cute lip look:

I thought it would be fun to give it a go myself - just something fun and completely not serious.

Hope you like!

Gold and Purple Eyes

Hi everyone :)
I decided for this post, to do a look I wear from time to time, especially when I go out.

Here are the products I used:

Start off by, of course, priming your eye.
Apply NYX Pencil in Milk all over the eye, right up to the eyebrow and on the bottom lash.
Blend with your ring fingers.
Apply UD Half Baked using a MAC 217 all over the lid of the eye.

Take an eye smudge brush and apply UD Psychedelic Sister to the outer edge of the eye, going into the crease and also taking it onto the bottom lash. Doesn't have to be neat.

Take a fluffy brush and blend out the purple, getting rid of the hard edges and lines.

Apply some eyeliner. I'm using the new Maybelline Eyestudio LastingDrama Gel Liner.
Apply with the brush and take it slow, there's no rush and you can achieve exactly how you want it. Create a flick. Take it onto the bottom waterline and crease a small triangle near the tear duct.

Apply your mascara - I'm using Smashbox Full Exposure.

Put on your concealer, foundation, powder and blush. I'm using Maybelline SuperStay concealer, Chanel Vitalumiere foundation, MAC Super Fix powder and the light blush from my Blink+Go Palette.

On the lips I'm putting on Sleek Pout Polish in 942 Powder Pink. I also filled in my brows using the UD Brow Kit in Honey pot.

And here's the finished look:

I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
Let me know in the comments, and also maybe even give it a go yourself? Tweet me your version at @samtraversx

Graze Box Review - My First Look And Thoughts

Hi everyone!
Whilst flicking through my Cosmopolitan magazine, a leaflet fell out for a free "Grazebox" to try and also for your second one to be half price.
I'd seen these on the TV once before, and thought I'd give it a try. You can't go wrong with free after all so off I went with my voucher code onto my laptop to have a gander at what they had to offer.

So, a bit of background on the company...what is Graze?
Here's a screen grab I've taken from their website

Graze offer's a choice of a yummy Nibblebox or a healthy Nutritionbox, both containing really healthy snacks for you to eat when you feel the need. You can choose how many boxes you receive a week and they're there to feed your "3pm temptation".
There are over 100 different foods that they offer, and when you sign up you have to make a choice of whether you want to "Bin" foods you don't like, "Try" foods you're unsure about, "Like" foods you like but don't want all the time, "Love" foods you love and want to receive on a regular basis, and "Send Soon" so that you get that item in your next box.

The boxes are £3.79 each with free postage, and you receive 4 different punnets of snacks!

I personally think these are a fantastic idea, especially if you're trying to stop snacking on unhealthy food like chocolate bars and crisps.

So here is my box I received today:

The boxes are small enough to fit through your letter box, so there's no need to miss out on your postie not delivering to you.

I got in my Grazebox:
  • Florentine -  pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate buttons and cranberries
  • Honeycomb Flapjack
  • Cherry tomato, basil and pesto focaccia
  • Great Fire Dragon -  roasted maize, chilli broad beans and jumbo chilli maize
I've tried a few bits of everything, and oh-my-GOSH, they're amazing. So yummy!
I'm really excited to eat everything throughout the week, especially knowing they're healthy options.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I certainly did! I'm looking forward to my next Half Price box!

Easy Eye Tutorial

Hi everyone :)

Last night I had a couple of friends over to my house for a chinese, drinks and a natter.
I didn't want my make up too flashy but I did want to play around beforehand.
I decided to go with this easy eye look, which could be dressed up with different colours for going out with.

Here's what I used:
Products:
Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden
MUA Eyeshadow - Shade 1- Pearl
FCUK Palette - 16th Colour (Dark Brown)
NYX Jumbo Pencil - Milk
FCUK Palette- 1st colour (Cream)
BeautyUK Palette - 6 - Black Shadow
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara
MAC Studio Fix Powder

Face
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum
Benefit Foundation Stick
Urban Decay Blusher in Fetish

Lips
Revlon Just Bitten in Frenzy
Bourjois Effet 3D in 29

Brushes
Mac 217
Urban Decay Eyeshadow brush
MAC 266
Avon Powder Brush

As usual, start off by priming your eyes, making sure to take it all the way up to the brow bone because I also like to use as a concealer for my lids.
Remember that a little goes along way!
Using my MAC 217, apply MUA Shade 1 all over the lid.
Taking an angled eyeshadow brush, use the 16th colour in the FCUK Palette (sorry they have no names!) and apply this to the outer corner, blending into the crease.

Apply Milk under the eyebrow:
Blend out with your finger, making sure you blend with the brown FCUK colour. Use a eyeshadow brush and apply the cream FCUK colour over this.

Take an angled brush and starting from the middle of your lid, create a flick and bring it quite a way out and then down to the outer corner of your eye. Take it slowly, there's no rush.

Add NYX Milk on the waterline and apply on the black onto the bottom lid, making sure to be thinner towards the middle.
Put on your mascara, and false lashes if you wish.

Finish off by applying your choice of foundation, concealer and powder.
I'm putting Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain on my lips, with Bourjois lipgloss on top.

Finished look:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

A Casual Look -How To Change It For A Night Out

Hi everyone :)

Today I thought I'd create a casual look for you all, and then show how you can change it up for the night if you are in a rush or have no time to go home and change your makeup.

Okay, let's go!

First start off by priming your eyes, I'm using Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. I'm a MAC 217 applying Urban Decay Sidecar all over my lid. I'm now taking my Spoilt Rotten Eye Smudger Brush and applying Urban Decay Virgin in the inner corner and under the brow.
You then want to apply eyeliner to your top lid and to your waterline, I'm using Rimmel Glam Eyes Liquid Liner in 001 Black Glamour on the top lid and Rimmel Exaggerate Eye Definer in 261 Noir in the waterline and then add your mascara - I'm using Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black.

Apply your foundation, I'm using Chanel Vitalumiere in 10 Limpide, concealer and powder.

For the night time:

Keeping with exactly everything you have applied previously, you just need to add now!
Start off by adding Urban Decay Darkhorse to the outer corners to give your eyes some depth, and blend that up towards the eyebrow and also in the crease. Apply more Sidecar and blend that into the crease too. Reapply Virgin to the innercorner and under the eyebrow and also take it onto the bottom lid. Reapply your eyeliner on the top lid and in the waterline and add more mascara.
Apply NARS Orgasm blusher. I'm now adding Wet N Wild Lipstick in E81510 with Barry M Lipgloss in 5.
And there you go. A Day-To-Night look.

Use whatever products you like or have. I'm a firm believer that you shouldn't run out and buy something just because someone tells you to. I'm pretty sure you'll have something similar to the colour already in your makeup stash, and if you don't, then by all means go and get it!

I also think this would look great with maybe a brighter eye and a neutral lip, but anything would look great!
Have fun, and I hope you enjoyed this!
